Mission Statement
LOAVES
AND FISHES OF THE RIO GRANDE VALLEY, INC. IS A
NON-PROFIT CHARITABLE ASSOCIATION OF CONGREGATIONS
AND LOCAL DENOMINATIONAL BODIES. IT SERVES AS
THEIR MISSION ARM TO INCREASE THEIR CAPACITY TO
ADDRESS THE NEEDS OF GOD'S PEOPLE THROUGHOUT THE
RIO GRANDE VALLEY, AND TO COOPERATE AND COORDINATE
WITH OTHER AGENCIES IN MEETING THESE NEEDS. ITS
CONCERNS INCLUDE HUMAN SERVICES, PROVIDING HUMAN
NECESSITIES, AND STRIVING TO RESTORE HUMAN DIGNITY.

The
facility is opened from 8:00 am to 7 p.m. Monday-Friday.
On Saturday morning we are open from 7 a.m. to
9 a.m. to serve breakfast. We serve an evening
meal from 4 - 7 p.m. Monday-Friday. During calendar
year 2003 we served 69,000 meals.
We
also provide services to assist clients with job
search and prepare for the job market. We are
open Monday-Friday from 8a.m. to 5 p.m. We assist
clients prepare their resume, we teach them how
to interview for a job, we offer GED, ESL and
computer skills. We work to provide additional
educational opportunities for clients who have
shown the desire and ability to improve their
abilities.
Our
staff is made up of seven people. The executive
director, the operations manager, two job shop
trainers, a supervisor of the kitchen, the volunteer
coordinator and a part-time relief worker in the
kitchen. We have many volunteers who work in the
kitchen area - some are doing community service
and many churches and organizations help us serve
our clients.
We
do not get discouraged because we know if we help
even one person per month better their lives we
have made a contribution.
