"To be abandoned to Divine Providence is
to be actively involved in the world, willing
to accept the necessary risks of living
out our mission for the world. We can risk
because we trust that God is with us bringing
all things to good" (CDP Constitution, article
13).
We
Sisters of Divine Providence are a community
of women religious rooted in our confidence
that God is provident.
We
participate in the mission of Jesus by responding
to the needs of the time through ministry
and service.
We
embrace our charism of complete trust in
a provident God--guiding, loving, and caring
for all creation.
We
believe in the reality of providence.
We
believe that the movements of history in
which we participate are guided by the loving
power of God.
We
believe that God cares for all creation.
We
believe that we have an active role in this
creative redemption because God works in
us and through us.
Our
four fundamental virtues of charity, simplicity,
poverty, and abandonment to Divine Providence
constitute our essential and unique spirit.
Our presence, our entire way of life is
a sign of God's providence. Because Jesus'
mission is to the whole world for all time,
we are always being called through the signs
of the times to reach out to the people
whose needs are not being met.
Our
ministry is therefore characterized by diversity
and responsible change; true to our charism,
a complete trust in Divine Providence, we
continue to find creative ways to educate,
to evangelize, to carry out the works of
mercy (Constitution, article 51).
